Touchdown Strategies Expands into Digital and Content Services with Acquisition of YSPK

YSPK Founder Joel Walker Will Join as Senior Vice President  

Touchdown Strategies announced today the acquisition of Austin, Texas-based strategic content agency YSPK. YSPK founder and creative director Joel Walker will be joining Touchdown Strategies as Senior Vice President to lead the new digital and creative services team.  

Touchdown Strategies will now offer YSPK’s innovative methods of creative direction, digital marketing, content creation, and strategy to existing and prospective clients and partners.  

“Joel is a pro with incredible experience on all sides of storytelling and his innovative strategy, production, and analytical processes will help our clients reach their audiences and advance strategic imperatives,” said Touchdown Strategies President James Davis.

The digital and creative landscape is in constant sea change; you either change with it or get buried,” said Walker. “Before the acquisition, James shared his view of that shifting landscape and his vision for a full-service agency that will thrive well into the future. I believe in his vision. I’m excited to contribute my digital and creative capabilities to their already stellar PR work and bring that vision to life.” 

Walker, a veteran of the digital and creative space, brings a breadth of knowledge and depth of experience to Touchdown Strategies. He has worked across many major industries building strategy, finding audiences, and telling stories.   

After a start in journalism as a local network television news anchor, reporter, and producer, Walker went back to school to study filmmaking at the University of Texas at Austin. After graduation, he moved to Hollywood with positions in development at Fox Broadcasting and production on the lot at Disney. From there, Walker made the jump to short-form content in the luxury space working with brands like Lamborghini, The Waldorf Astoria, and LVMH.   

His sense of adventure still not satisfied, he moved to San Francisco to experience the tech world. After working in-house creating content for Airbnb, he got the start-up bug of his own, co-founding and exiting a content creation app. Walker went on to found YSPK in 2021, which offered innovative strategy, production, and analytical processes to companies in the hospitality, luxury, automotive, restaurant, education, and healthcare industries and beyond.
