The Challenges

bottom bar
Political Volatility

Healthcare has become one of the most politically contested industries in America, and party lines on healthcare policy are increasingly fluid.

Shifting Voter Priorities

Issues like healthcare access, innovation, and affordability have become defining concerns for voters, a shift that’s opened new ways to persuade audiences no longer anchored to traditional platforms.

An Outdated Playbook

But taking advantage of that shift requires expanding beyond the traditional Washington, DC public affairs healthcare playbook.

Strategic Communications

We build healthcare policy advocacy campaigns around the impact you want to have, not around the standard D.C. public affairs playbook.

Coalition Building

We build strategic teams, not solo campaigns, bringing together clinicians, patients, advocates, policy experts, and third-party validators so your healthcare public affairs and health policy advocacy message reaches the right audiences with credibility.

Earned Media, Amplified

Our earned media doesn't end with placement. We amplify coverage through strategic digital distribution and third-party promotion to maximize reach and impact.

Measured by Impact

We evaluate strategy against your goals, share of voice, and the broader policy conversation, then demonstrate real impact, not just deliverables.

CASE STUDY

Elevating Alzheimer’s as a National Concern

Challenge

A coalition of researchers, physicians, patient advocates, and policy leaders sought to build support for earlier Alzheimer’s diagnosis and broader access to breakthrough diagnostics amid an increasingly polarized healthcare policy climate.

Approach

Touchdown built a communications strategy combining healthcare digital advocacy, national thought leadership, patient storytelling, physician activation, earned media, polling, and grassroots engagement, reaching the public first, then policymakers. Elevating physician voices, patient experiences, and polling-informed policy arguments helped move Alzheimer’s early diagnosis into the national conversation.

Result

The campaign generated sustained national media coverage and helped position Alzheimer’s policy as a matter of patient access, economic competitiveness, and innovation, drawing public comment from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who called Medicare’s failure to cover Alzheimer’s screening “regulatory malpractice.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Healthcare organizations are consistently advancing ideas and breakthroughs that have the power to improve lives, but innovation only reaches patients when policy keeps pace. Touchdown helps organizations shape the public opinion that drives political action, so good policy keeps up with the innovation. We throw out the old-school comms playbook in favor of strategic, creative tools, building healthcare communications plans tailored to your goals rather than defaulting to traditional D.C. public affairs tactics.

We start by engineering key messages that resonate with your audiences. We aren’t confined to press releases and media lists: if your goals are best served by convening policymakers, briefing editorial boards, launching a TikTok campaign, placing an op-ed, activating grassroots advocates, bold paid media, or walking the halls of Congress, that’s exactly what we’ll do. A great communications strategy isn’t defined by the channels, it’s defined by the outcome.

Healthcare organizations are most persuasive when their message comes through trusted voices, not just their own. We bring together influencers, trusted political voices, clinicians, patients, advocates, policy experts, coalition partners, and third-party validators, so your message reaches the right audiences with credibility you can’t manufacture alone, and moves both public sentiment and policymaker action, not just one or the other.

Media coverage is only valuable if your key audiences see it and act on it, so we amplify placements through strategic digital distribution and third-party promotion to maximize reach and impact. We continuously evaluate strategy against your goals, share of voice, industry trends, public sentiment, audience engagement, and the broader policy conversation, then adjust our aim. We won’t just turn in deliverables, we’ll demonstrate measurable impact.
